On December 15th, A Westport man was arraigned in Norwich Superior Court after police said he stole several thousand dollars in poker chips from a table at the Mohegan Sun casino. Perhaps he was somewhat new to the concept that casinos have some of the most superior surveillance systems in the world. Regardless of that though, Charles H. Vosgueritchian, 29, entered the casino at 6 a.m. Sunday, sat at a gaming table, grabbed some poker chips and ran to his car. He then led police on a short high-speed chase and was taken into custody by Westport police near his home and was charged with fourth-degree larcey. Police said he had two, $1,000 poker chips at the time of his arrest.
The funny thing is, even if he managed to escape police, cashing in poker chips of this denomination would have been difficult later on anyway. Nobody ever said criminals were smart.
